Elena Méndez García de Paredes

Elena Méndez García de Paredes is a Professor of Spanish Language at the Department of Spanish Language, Linguistics and Literary Theory at the University of Seville. She specialises in the syntax of the Spanish language, discourse analysis and media. Furthermore, she made an in-depth study on the presence of Andalusian Spanish, both as informative content and as the target for ideological manipulation in the press, especially in Andalusia. Moreover, regarding the Andalusian dialect, she raised many issues that are still relevant today concerning language model/s in Spanish. She has been a member of the research group “El español hablado en Andalucía” since it was set up in 1995, and has participated in all the projects that it has received funding for. She is currently a research member of the “Instituto Interuniversitario de Investigación en Comunicación de Andalucía”.
