Manuel Padilla Cruz

Manuel Padilla Cruz is an Associate Professor of English Language and Linguistics in the Department of English Philology (English Language) at the University of Seville, where he studied English and Italian Philology. He specialises in language pragmatics, intercultural pragmatics, politeness and humour from the perspective of Relevance Theory. In addition, his work has been published in prestigious journals such as Humor, Intercultural Pragmatics or Łodź Papers in Pragmatics. He participated in the project “Formación de la conciencia figurativa en educación primaria: humor y fraseología” (FIGURKID) FFI2016-76047-P (AEI / FEDER, EU) from the GRIALE research group. He is also a member of the research group “Estudios interculturales (inglés-español): Aspectos pragmáticos y discursivos” (PAI HUM-640), funded by the Regional Government of Andalusia.
