The GRIALE research group from the University of Alicante organizes the Second International Workshop on Advanced Studies of Humor and Gender, which focuses on interactional humor.
GRIALE is the only research group dedicated to the study of irony and verbal humor in Spain. Founded in 2002, it has had six R&D projects, as well as several grants from the University of Alicante. Its main objectives are the pragmatic analysis of irony and humor, the observation of sociocultural aspects such as gender and its impact on irony and humor, the acquisition of humor in children, and the application of the obtained results to the teaching-learning of Spanish as a foreign language and to language disorders, especially those related to the autism spectrum. In addition, we have developed several humor corpora, which can be found in the OBSERVAHUMOR.COM platform.
