Chelo Vargas-Sierra earned her degree of Licenciado en Traducción e Interpretación (level 3 -Master- of the Spanish Higher Education Qualifications Framework and level 7, of the European Qualifications Framework), and a Ph.D. in Translation from the University of Alicante (UA). She has also completed doctoral courses in Computer Applications at the same university and earned her Master’s Degree in Terminology from the Institute for Applied Linguistics (IULA, Pompeu Fabra University) and a Master’s Degree in Audiovisual Translation: Localisation, Subtitling, and Dubbing from the University of Cádiz. She is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Alicante and teaches Translation, Terminology, and CAT Tools in Graduate and Postgraduate courses (ISTRAD, U. Ricardo Palma [Peru], IULA, etc.). She has also given international seminars at the European Commission in Brussels and Luxembourg, and in Latinamerican and European Universities. Her main lines of research for which she has both published several articles and participated in seminars and conferences are: terminology, terminotics, corpus linguistics, specialized translation and computer-aided translation. Currently, she is the Director of the Interuniversity Institute for Applied Modern Languages (IULMA)
