María Pilar Montero Curiel is a professor at the Department of Hispanic Philology and General Linguistics at the University of Extremadura. Works of hers have been published on several lines of research: Spanish Dialectology, with a special focus on Extremadura, the history of lexicons, and the history of the Spanish language. Moreover, as a secondary line of research, she has studied popular Extremadura traditions and their literary manifestations; tales, games and popular festivals, about which she has written different books and articles.
